Although, some colors of the printing material and the imprint might diverge marginally from the presentation on the device's monitor. Depending on the settings of your screen and the condition of the surface, not all color pigments can be printed one hundret percent realistically. Because all the art reproductions are printed and processed by hand, there might also be minor deviations in the exact position and the size of the motif.

General description by Belvedere (© Copyright - Belvedere - Belvedere)

The snow and the weather conditions in the transitional periods were of little interest to Waldmüller. He preferred the sun and the warm season, which had not least also practical reasons, because in these weeks he could work outside for a long time without loss. An exception in his œuvre is the "Vorfrühling im Wienerwald", a subject that Waldmüller dealt with three times and which he himself repeated several times. It has to be emphasized that in these three views only the activity of the children is comparable, but otherwise there are great differences. Thus the place is always different, as are the weather and the arrangement of the figures. In the earliest version from Nuremberg (Feuchtmüller, WVZ-No. 960), for example, the children are gathered as a closed group in the centre of the foreground and are also highlighted by specific lighting. The second version from the Belvedere collection, on the other hand, is much more unusual in its concept. The children's gestures are expansive, the group of figures has moved further into the middle ground. On the other hand, the view is directed to the large liver flowers and primrose at the very front, as well as to the towering tree trunk. The way in which the picture is constructed, in which individual elements are emphasized and others treated as incidental, was quite unusual in Viennese painting at the time. The perspective with the extremely close-up foreground is also unconventional. This, as well as the low point of the eye, is reminiscent of the Pre-Raphaelites, whose works Waldmüller was able to get to know shortly before in London. The third variant is in the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin (Feuchtmüller, WVZ-No. 1084). [Sabine Grabner 8/2009]
